23/365 Shiny Sanitary Spatula

Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:

Make a photograph of something shiny or glossy, but not transparent. Emphasize the effect of the surface.

As I took different shots of this subject, I noticed how different the surface of the spatula looked depending on the angle from which I was shooting. I tried to compose the image to show the varied tones from white to dark grey that was reflected off the shiny surface. I enjoyed this challenge. Again, I am amazed at what one can do with the mundane when looking for something like a shiny or glossy surface to photograph while utilizing such concepts as diagonal lines, squares, patterns, metal surfaces and rule of thirds.

I'm also feeling very thankful to have time to focus on digital photography during this period of my life while volunteering as a parttime campground host.

OH OH I think I made my first comment disappear so I will try again. I love the textures and shadows going on in your photo. I find sometimes I think I am taking a quick picture but it turns into a learning experience as I try to capture it just right. Those are the most treasured photos
